This lesson consists of words that can be categorized according to their long vowel spelling patterns.
Sort words that have a long vowel sound and have the spelling pattern CVCC (consonant-vowel-consonant) like "sold".
Sort words that have a long vowel sound and have the spelling pattern CVVC (consonant-vowel-vowel-consonant) like "bleed".
Sort words that have a long vowel sound and have the spelling pattern CVC-e (consonant-vowel-consonant, ending with "e") like "wave".
Sort words that have a long vowel sound and don't match any of the other spelling patterns, called "Open" long-vowel patterns, like "crew" which has a long /u/ vowel sound, but spelled with "ew".
