SHORT /i/ AND LONG /i/ VOWEL SOUNDS

This lesson consists of words that can be categorized according to their long "i" and short "i" spelling patterns.

Sort words that have a short /i/ vowel sound and have the spelling pattern CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) like "quick".

Sort words that have a long /i/ vowel sound and have the spelling pattern CVCe (consonant-vowel-consonant, ending with an "e") like "write".

Sort words that have a long /i/ vowel sound and have the spelling pattern VCC-igh (consonant-vowel-vowel as in "igh") like "might".

Sort words that have a long /i/ vowel sound and have the spelling pattern CV-y (consonant-vowel-"y") like "why".

Sort word(s) that don't fit within the other three categories under oddball.
