SHORT and LONG /u/

This lesson consists of words that have short and long /u/ sounds using four different spelling patterns.

Sort words having a short /u/ sound with a CVC pattern like "crust" under CVC.

Sort words having a long /u/ sound made with the silent e CVC-e pattern like "cube" under CVC-e.

Sort words having a long /u/ sound with a CVVC-ui pattern like "fruit" under CVVC-ui.

Sort words having a long /u/ sound with a CVVC-oo pattern like "food" under CVVC-oo.

Sort words not fitting any of these patterns under Oddballs.
