ADDING -ION and -IAN TO BASE WORDS

THAT HAVE NO SPELLING CHANGE

General Rule: If a verb ends in two consonants, simply add -ion to change it to a noun.

General Rule:  If a noun ends in -ic, simply add -ian to change it meaning a person who does the noun.

This lesson consists of base words ending in -t and their -ion changes meaning "the act or result of" the base word.  The second set of words end in -ic and add -ian to mean "referring to someone who does."

Sort base words ending in -t under Base -t.

Sort words that added -ion to -t words under +ion.

Sort base words ending in -ic under Base -ic.

Sort words that added -ian to -ic words under +ian.
