COMPARATIVE SUFFIXES -ER, -EST, -IER -IEST
This lesson consists of words that are used to compare things and end with -er, est-, ier-, and -iest. When comparing only two things, the suffix -er is used. (That truck is bigger than that car.) When comparing three or more things, the suffux -est is used. (She's the busiest child in her family.) The suffixes -ier and -iest are used for various comparisons and apply the rule "drop the y and add an i" when changing from the base word (This party hat is fancier than all the others. This is the shinest gem I've ever seen.)
